Ii - Vihkosaari
Vihkosaari is the most popular swimming spot in Ii, featuring a shallow and sunny sandy beach. The area offers a year-round pier, four 25-meter swimming lanes, a sauna, changing rooms, a campfire and picnic area, a beach volleyball court, playground equipment, and a composting toilet. In winter, the swimming facility is available for those who have paid the seasonal fee.

Kempele - Ouluntullin Kalliomonttu
Ouluntulli’s Kalliomonttu is a former rock quarry that has been renovated into a sheltered beach. The clear groundwater keeps the water cool even during heatwaves. The beach features a pier, changing facilities, three diving platforms, and a separate shallow area for children. From the cliffs, you can jump into the water from various heights, with depths exceeding 8 meters, making it suitable for diving as well. The beach is EU-classified and has received an excellent rating. In winter, the area serves as an ice swimming spot with heated changing rooms.

Lumijoki - Lumijoen uimamonttu
Viinavuori Nature Oasis is located near the town center, next to the village of Luonnostakylä. The swimming area features a sandy beach, a frisbee golf course, playground equipment, swings, and fitness stairs. You can reach the island via a bridge, where you’ll find a lean-to shelter and a campfire spot. The Swan Route cycling trail passes by the area. In summer 2025, a summer kiosk will operate here, offering SUP board and Airtrack rentals, as well as snacks, drinks, and ice cream.

Hailuto - Marjaniemi
Hailuoto is known for its wide sandy beaches and impressive dunes, but the island has no official, supervised swimming areas. All beaches are unsupervised and unofficial swimming spots, which can be used under Finland’s public right of access (“Everyman’s rights”). Visitors are asked to respect other outdoor enthusiasts and landowners, and to behave as they would on a wilderness trip: take all trash and belongings with you, as there is no waste collection or public facilities on the beaches. The most popular beach areas in Hailuoto are Marjaniemi, the shoreline extending from Rantasumppu, as well as the beaches of Pöllä and Sunikari.
Liminka - Rantakylän uimapaikka
Just a five-minute drive from Liminka’s town center, Rantakylä is a versatile recreational and sports area offering activities year-round. In summer, you can cycle, jog, play frisbee golf (18-hole course), beach volleyball, or work out on outdoor fitness equipment. At the beach, you can swim, jump from the pier or the diving tower – and there’s even a designated swimming spot for dogs. Lifeguard services and a summer kiosk operate during the summer season.
In winter, the jogging track transforms into a lit ski trail, and there’s a sledding hill for the little ones. The bravest can try ice swimming. The area also has a covered grill shelter and lean-tos along the trails. Rantakylä is also a popular destination for berry-picking, mushroom hunting, and game hunting.

Tyrnävä - Rauhionojan Riviera
Tyrnävä’s second official beach, locally known as Rauhionoja Riviera, is located in Markkuu next to the shooting range. This cozy swimming spot is popular with locals, especially families with children looking to cool off on hot summer days.
The area features a swimming raft, a children’s playground, picnic tables, two campfire spots, a kota-style lean-to shelter, a changing room, and toilet facilities. In summer 2020, a 9-hole frisbee golf course was added. Additional recreational opportunities include the village shooting range and ski trails of 1 km and 3 km suitable for winter use, with a connection via the nature trail’s lean-to shelter to Markkuu School.
