Winter day in Koiteli

Warm and wintry welcome to Koiteli to spend a wonderful winter day in a good company! Koiteli is located right outside Oulu and it ́s known for it ́s beautiful surroundings.

Word koiteli comes from Sami language and means “in the middle”. You get to enjoy the snowy atmosphere and fun activities in an island located in the middle of two rapids. Beautiful surroundings, ancient trees and the silence surrounding you will give you the feeling of being also in the center of yourself.

Snow activities include short try outs of different kinds of snowshoes, traditional kick sledge ‘potkuri’ and toboggan ‘pulkka’. All these activities will give you the taste of traditional ways of moving around in wintry forest. The try outs are optional and you can also choose just to walk around and enjoy the spectacular views instead. Coffee brewed by an open fire and traditional Finnish pastry “pulla” are served during this tour.

In Tunnelmatupa hut everyone will have the chance to make their own souvenir out of wood and pine wood tar. The self-made souvenir will give you a chance to take the scent of Koiteli with you when you leave.
