airBaltic operates direct flights between Riga and Oulu four days a week. The route is on a winter break, with flights resuming from 28 March to 30 October 2027. The Riga hub offers easy connections to dozens of European cities.
In addition to air travel, Oulu is well connected by rail. Trains from both the south and the north arrive in the area, with several daily connections to Oulu, Kempele, Kemi, and the Rokua Geopark area. New since August 2026: a direct train between Oulu and Haparanda in Sweden, via Kemi and Tornio – the first passenger rail link between Finland and Sweden in almost 40 years. For travelers coming from closer regions, buses provide an ideal option, with routes reaching Oulu from nearly everywhere in Finland in a short time.
