Utajärvi Church
The Utajärvi Church, built in 1762, represents a significant wooden church architecture. The magnificent wooden church of Utajärvi is a log-built so-called Ostrobothnian pillar church, of which only 12 have survived. With the help of the construction method, it has been possible to make long and sturdy buildings from the log. The belfry, like the church building, is log-structured and shingle-roofed.
There is also a local history museum, a heroes’ cemetery and an old tar boat in the same courtyard as the church. The toilet can be found in the church service building.
The church is open during services and events and as a road church during the summer. The church is located on the west side of Utajärvi municipal center and near Route 22. The church has 300 seats.
Utajärvi Church is one of Rokua Geopark’s cultural attractions.
