Through time and food - Culinary and cultural workshop
There is no food without culture and no culture without food.
All the traditional recipes have a story to tell, and what better way to learn it… then doing it and tasting it?
Come learn how to do the most traditional delicacies of Finnish culture while listening how they became part of Finns daily life.
When you arrive take a walk around the magnificent nature surrounding you. The boreal artic forest and the river bay of the Rokua UNESCO geopark will inspire you for the class.
Then we will do the traditional “Thursdays soup”, the most cherished salty pie in the country and a romantic decadent cake, along with traditional drinks.
Throughout the experience, the guide will lead you through the ingredients and techniques, while telling you the stories of these recipes fully entangled with Finland’s own history.
In the end, delight yourself with the food you have prepared.
Take with you the recipes plus a surprise item for you to do at home.
And of course, when you are back, don’t forget to recite to your friends the Finnish poem you are taking with you.
What does a poem have to to with all of this?
Everything.
But you’ll only know when you join us.
