St. Olaf’s Church of Saloinen
The Church of Saloinen also known as St. Olaf’s Church holds a number of items salvaged from the old church that burned down, including Medieval pictures of saints and an altar cabinet from the 15th century. The belfry dating back to 1783 is said to have been designed by King Gustav III of Sweden. Completed in 1932, the church was designed by Master Builder J. Karvonen.
Saloinen Church is part of the From Church to Church route, featured on both the Rantareitti route and the Steeples and Paupers’ Statues route. From Church to Church is part of the official Oulu2026 European Capital of Culture programme.
The church of Saloinen is open to the public upon request and during events.
