Hietamaa Beach and Recreation Center

The beach of Hietamaa is second of the official swimming spots in Siikajoki. Located in the village of Ruukki, Hietamaa is a groundwater pond with a floor of sand, which was formed during sand extraction. The beach is equipped with pier, dry toilets and cubicles for changing. During winters Hietamaa hosts a spot for winter swimming maintained by the municipality. During summers a kiosk operates in the area.

Not only a beach, but a versatile recreation center.
Aside from the beach the recreation center contains fitness stairs, field for beach volleyball, 18-laned disc golf course, outdoors exercise equipment and a lit-up running track. Swings, jungle gym and Supernova-carousel can be found next to the beach. Ski trails, winter swimming and hills for sled rides are available during winter. There are also spots for tents and campfires in the area and a kiosk operates during summer. Near the beach you can find cubicles and two dry toilets, of which one is acceccible on wheelchair. You may use the area freely.

In Hietamaa’s recreation center you can also find the carting course operated by the Ruukin FK club and the Vauhtimaja maintenance building. Vauhtimaja facilities can be rented by other users as well.
