Seaside Ink Tattoo Event

International Seaside Ink brings a tattoo convention to Raahe for the first time.
This autumn, Raahe will host the international Seaside Ink tattoo event for the first time, as tattoo professionals gather at Hotel Raahen Hovi on 23–24 October. The two-day event will bring around 25 tattoo artists, as well as piercing professionals, to the city from across Finland and abroad.

During the event, visitors will have the opportunity to explore tattoo culture, watch artists at work, and get tattoos and piercings on site. Some artists will work by advance appointment, while others will also accept enquiries and bookings during the event. Seaside Ink is organised by experienced event producers Mika Mahlavuori and Toni Korpela, a piercing industry entrepreneur originally from Raahe. Mahlavuori is known, among other things, for organising the North Karelia Tattoo Fest and Sawo Tattoo Convention.

“We wanted to bring the event to Raahe because the city is ideally located, and there has clearly been interest in this type of event here,” says Mahlavuori.

Artist announcements will begin in the coming weeks, and the organisers aim to create a high-quality and diverse line-up representing a wide range of tattoo styles.

“Toni and I both have extensive networks among Finnish and international artists. We want to give visitors the opportunity to discover a broad range of top professionals in the industry,” Mahlavuori continues. For the first year, the number of participating artists has intentionally been limited to around 25.

“We want to make sure there are enough customers for all the artists and that the event remains comfortable and enjoyable for everyone. In cooperation with Tapahtumatalo, the venue and facilities also make it possible to organise a considerably larger event in the future,” Mahlavuori says. Saturday’s daytime programme is open to all ages and free of charge. The Friday and Saturday evening programmes require a ticket, and the event will also feature live music
