Graphic artists Raija Korppila and Juha Laakso: Natura Forma Art Exhibition

The “Natura Forma” Art Exhibition by graphic artists Raija Korppila and Juha Laakso will be at Gallery Myötätuuli in Raahe from 3rd Dec 2026 to 29 Jan 2027.

Juha Laakso deals with scenic moments in his works. As the landscape changes all the time, he always has a camera with him. The graphic nature of tree branches also brings cartoonish elements to photography.

Raija Korppila pays attention to the details that appear in nature. As a graphic artist, she is used to looking up close, and so does nature. The details found in nature are used to creating symmetrical compositions.

Raija and Juha both work with the photogravure method of fine art printmaking. They have the same technique, but two different approaches. Juha uses a photograph, which he processes with an image editing program and prints on film. Raija draws and paints on various light-permeable materials.

The photogravure method combines the tradition and modernity of fine art printmaking. The technique involves many work stages, including the manufacture of a printing plate and proofing, which is done by hand. The method’s grainy and soft print resembles the traditional aquatint technique and creates rich tones – from a delicate light to a velvety dark.
